Rijkswaterstaat – 2016 to the present

Project: IVS Next – Stichting ICTU, acting upon instructions from Rijkswaterstaat.
“Rijkswaterstaat is responsible for the design, construction, management, and maintenance of the main infrastructure facilities in the Netherlands. This includes the main road network, the main waterway network, and water systems.” (source: Rijkswaterstaat)
For a new expert system for Rijkswaterstaat, I was responsible for the entire User Experience design. The expert system is used by vessel traffic controllers, lock keepers, bridge personnel and other employees to gather data about the vessels on the waterways that they are responsible for. In this system, users can view, add,  update and delete vessel data. Also, the system predicts, advises and offers planning tools to plan the locks and bridge operation efficiently. Last but not least, in a case of emergency, the system can provide all the vessel data that the rescue parties need to be properly informed about the situation they are dealing with, including concerning ships and possible dangerous cargo.

As a UX designer, my position in this SCRUM project was in-between the end users, stakeholders, developers, story owners, architects and I answer to the product owner.

My responsibilities are; Facilitating design workshops (Lean UX) and workshops to uncover the user needs. My deliverables consist of;  customer/ expert journey, user- and screen flows, wireframes, interaction design graphics design and prototypes. To discover usability issues in an early stage, I performed usability tests
